The Four for the Future Mentoring Programs
The signature programmatic thrust of all 100 Black Men of America chapters nationally and internationally is our Four for the Future Mentoring Programs. Our vision is to be the premier mentoring organization in the world!
MENTORING
In Cleveland, we provide mentoring to youth through a series of projects servicing ages 7 through 21. Each project has certified mentors and role models utilizing a life skills curriculum that promotes self-discipline and respect, educational excellence and achievement, personal responsibility and career exposure.
Examples of activities include:
- 100 Black Men of Tomorrow (fourth- through six-graders)
- Finance Academy (tenth- through twelfth graders)
- Youth Entrepreneurship Project (17- 21 years olds who are out of school)
- Youth Opportunities Project (tenth- through twelfth graders)
The scope of the mentoring programs is to develop a positive self-perception; identify SMART career goals; develop a personal brand and skills to influence others and to build and manage a support network.
These programs will expose students to role models in the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc. and to new ways of thinking about how they approach life, academic and career development and leadership.

100 Black Men of Tomorrow
The 100 Black Men of Tomorrow is the 1 to 1 community based mentoring program of the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc. The program is designed for young men in the 4th through 12th grades.
The goal of the program is to develop young men who understand the beneficial importance of positive thinking, responsible personal conduct, respect for self and others, educational achievement and cultural enrichment.
To accomplish this goal and to help develop a group of future leaders, we have designed a curriculum that includes a series of sessions that take place throughout the school year. During these sessions, volunteer mentors, tutors and presenters share their knowledge and experience with the young men on life skills projects, engage them in athletic activities and accompany them on group field trips.
Young people in this program also engage in community service projects, serve as peer counselors and compete in academic projects both locally and nationally.
The regular group sessions are planned for the 2nd and 3rd Saturday morning of each month, from September through June at the downtown Cleveland YMCA, located at 2200 Prospect Avenue.
100 Training Academy
The 100 Training Academy provides professional, state of the art mentoring training utilizing educational instruction, best practices in the field of mentoring, as well as psycho-educational workshops grounded in a theoretical basis. The goal of the 100 Training Academy is to provide ongoing support as it relates to the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc. mentoring program and initiatives. The vision is to create a standard of national excellence in the professional development and training of organizations, groups, and individuals in innovative program development and effective mentoring concepts. Components of the 100 Training Academy include professional and clinical mentoring training for (a) members, (b) community volunteers, (c) professional and corporate, (d) lecture & workshop series, and (e) program evaluation.
As a result of a wonderful collaboration with our Program Partner the YMCA, the regular sessions are held at the downtown Cleveland YMCA, located at 2200 Prospect Avenue, on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday morning of each month.
