100 Black Men of Tomorrow Mentoring Program
Cleveland, Ohio, October 22, 2008
The 100 Black Men of Tomorrow is the premier mentoring program of the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc. The program is designed for a select group of young men in the 4th -12th grades. The 100 Black Men of Tomorrow Junior group is for 9-12 year olds in the 4th–6th grades. The goal of the program is to develop a more well-rounded group of young men who understand the beneficial importance of positive thinking, responsible personal conduct, respect for others, educational achievement, and cultural enrichment. To accomplish this goal and to help develop a group of future leaders, we have designed a curriculum that includes a series of sessions that take place throughout the school year where volunteer mentors, tutors, and presenters share their knowledge and experience with the young men, and accompany them on group field trips. As a result of a wonderful collaboration with our Program Partner the YMCA, the regular sessions are held at the Downtown Cleveland YMCA on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday morning of each month and are designed to include various life skills topics, special projects, educational enrichment and recreational activities. We envision the Senior Group of mentees developing the skills necessary to become peer mentors for the Junior Group.
